The stone was placed in 1786 and marks the pre-1881 Oxfordshire-Berkshire boundary. It is located along the Thames River towpath (now walking/bicycle trail). The stone is listed as a Grade II structure by English Heritage. The stone is inscribed as follows: (very difficult to read with the current graffiti)
