Parker is the county seat of Turner County, South Dakota. It has a population of 971 as of July 2009, reflecting a 6% drop in population from the 2000 census.
The area was settled by German, Norwegian, Irish, Dutch, and Danish immigrants and the town was incorporated on March 9, 1883.
Located 25 minutes from Sioux Falls, Parker is the “community” that larger cities can’t be. Neighbors helping one another, business owners who know your name and school spirit that many of us remember as children, plus the convenience of a vibrant Main Street with retail, restaurants and more.
Parker has an excellent school district with an average class size of 15 students. The district is accredited by the North Central Association.
