One of two pumps in Cartmel. This pump has a dated stone in the wall behind, and is clad in a wood. The pump is tucked in a recess on the junction of The Causeway and Aynsome Road. A convenient place to collect water in bygone days. Grade 2 listed.

One of two pumps still in existence in Cartmel. No longer working but with handle. In 1880s nearby Grange had a scheme to bring piped water to its residents from reservoirs 6 kms away. Cartmel had a worse problem with no natural open water catchment. Instead small ponds were dug and covered to supply small clusters of houses. Many outlying Cartmel properties are still on their own private supply. The village is now on mains water.

Parking on street is possible all around this pump.
