Located in Harrison County, Iowa, Mondamin is just off I-29.
Its population as of July 2009 was 393, reflecting a 7% drop in population from the 2000 census.
The area was settled by German, English, Irish, Dutch, and French immigrants and the town was incorporated on December 23, 1881.
This monument is located on the corner of Maple Street and Main Street in Mondamin in proximity to the town's watertower.

Description of Memorial: Located just off Main Street, this memorial is a simple granite block sitting on a granite foundation.
It is about 4-5 feet tall and has a bronze placque on the front. No other lettering or decorations are on the monument.
A flag pole stands just to the rear of the monument and the flag flys on patriotic holidays and other significant days. There is no lighting on the flag so it doesn't fly at night.
