In downtown Anchorage, there is the Federal Building at 605 W. 4th Avenue that is the location of many federal offices, and has a visitor center for federal and state public lands. At this office is a cancellation station for the Lake Clark National Park and Preserve.

The building is at the corner of W 4th Ave. and F Street. Enter at the side facing W 4th St. When you go in, expect to go through a metal detector, and X-ray machine for your things. Once you pass through that, go straight through the door into the visitor center.

This center has all sorts of information about both federal and state public lands. There is a relief map of Alaska visible when you come in. There are other maps and books that you can peruse and purchase while you are there. It is well worth a half hour to peruse.

The cancellation station is located at the information desk. You have to ask for it. From there, make your ink impression into your book or a piece of paper.

The actual location of the Lake Clark National Park and Preserve is located at least 40 miles west of Anchorage, though the administrative headquarters are located in Anchorage. It is so remote that there are no highways to the park. The best way to arrive is by plane to the Port Alsworth field headquarters and visitor center, which is well inland on the southwest corner of the park. The park has many lakes and mountain ranges and two well known volcanoes, Mt. Iliamna, and Mt. Redoubt.
