Studland Heath is a National Nature Reserve. The information boards detail Studland Heath, the South West Coast Path and Studland Beach.

The Heath is only one of 200 NNRs in England and provides the perfect habitat for a range of wildlife such as Stonechats, Dartford Warblers, Nightjars, Smooth Snakes, Grass Snakes, Adders, Sand Lizards and Common Lizards. We have included a picture of a Slow Worm and Adder taken in the area.

Heather and gorse covers the heath and Sundews can be found - a carnivorous plant species. Studland Bay contains a small, enclosed area known as Little Sea which contains fresh water. Up to 100 roosting Egrets can be seen here as well as Pintails, Little Grebes, Swans and Ducks.

Insects can be found such as Dragonflies, Damselflies, Butterflies and many more. On the edge of Little Sea is an area of woodland creating habitat for Roe and Sika Deer.

The boardwalk takes you through the sand dunes on the beach where Marrum Grass, Sea Bindweed, Sheep's Bit, Hawksweed and Cat's Ear grows.
