In the Pioneer Square section of Seattle, there are stories of a ghost that haunts the 'basement' of a building that used to be the Scandinavian Bank vault.

The Seattle Underground Tours has this area as one if its stops. The tour guide goes through the story of how the bank was founded by a man who had no Scandinavian heritage, himself, but he wanted to draw clientele of Scandinavian heritage who settled in the area. There is more...but I'll let the Seattle Underground Tour tell those stories. But, this corner of a building near the Merchant's Cafe has been considered haunted. Evidence is strange noises in the area and also of being touched as you pass through the area where the bank's vault was located. As we went through, we tried to listen, though there are too many people on the tour to accomplish anything.

The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS) visited the location to investigate. They were led on a special underground tour and told of two spots: this location and a street location. Jason and Grant spent time at the location and found nothing concrete. They traced noises heard to one of the glass sidewalks where noises from the street came in. Jason did feel an 'electrical' shock run up his arm which he could not explain. But the report they gave was that nothing out of the norm was observed.

The only way to get to this area is on the Seattle Underground Tour. The tour takes you through passageways and bottom floors of many buildings in the Pioneer Square area. At $16 [2010], it was well worth the tour!
