The name 'The Rose and Crown' is one of the most common of pub names ion the UK. The significance of the name is now perhaps lost, other than on those nights when the big screen TV is showing international football. Quite simply this is a display of loyalty to king (or of course Queen) and country.
The sign itself is clear and simple. No mistaking this pub for The Pig and Whistle! The sign does bear the signature of the artist, but sadly, I am unable to read it from the ground.
Name of Artist: Unreadable.
Date of current sign: Not known.
Date of first pub on site: Not known.
