It is unclear whether the building to which the marker is attached has any relationship to Nathaniel Gorham himself. Nevertheless, the plaque is there, and it reads:
"In the late 18th century, no Charlestown resident was as well known as Nathaniel Gorham. He was born here, became a successful businessman, and settled his family in the Gorham home fronting City Square.
During the Revolutionary War he served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives and Senate. He gained national recognition when he was named to the Continental Congress in the 1780s, became its president in 1786, and signed the Constitution in 1787. He died in Charlestown in 1796."

Visit Instructions:
When logging a Massachusetts Historic Marker, we ask that you not only describe your visit, but to upload a picture from it. The picture does not have to be of the marker - one picture of the marker is enough. But a photo of you standing next to the marker or a photograph the subject of the marker - those are examples of possible photographs to upload.
