Warren State Hospital Cemetery - Warren, Pennsylvania - Worldwide Cemeteries on Waymarking.com

The first burial took place at the Warren State Hospital Cemetery in 1881. From the markers in the newest section of the cemetery, the last burial happened 96 years later in 1977. Between 1977 and 2008 the cemetery was forgotten left to go back to nature. Fewer than a dozen markers with names were in the cemetery. The rest of the graves were marked with unscribed, flat markers.

In 2008, 50 volunteers, and eagle Scout, and current hospital employees joined together to restore the cemetery and research the names and locations of those buried in the grounds. Landscaping efforts and a headstone project were completed in September 2008.
