Long Description:
Although the land was originally acquired in 1975 as an adgistment are for surplus stock of Melbourne Zoo. The zoo only officially opened to the public in 1973.

It has expanded over the years and has seen over 3 million visitors in 25 years. Its most recent development including 'Lions on the edge', 'Kubu River Hipps' and 'African Wild Dogs' displays.
