Construction of this lighthouse began in 1916 and was finished in 1917. It stands 84 1/4 feet high and it's original purpose was to guide boats along the Erie Canal. It is still used to today as a guide for boaters on Oneida Lake.It has been lit constantly since 1917. Presently the light flashes every three seconds.

There is a placard on the site that explains it's history and restoration.
