The largest and oldest facility of the kind in TFE Krtiny is the Krtiny Arboretum situated near the road between the villages of Krtiny and Jedovnice, some 20 km to the north of the South-Moravian metropolis. It was founded in 1928 by the professor of the then Faculty of Forestry at the University of Agriculture in Brno Augustin Bayer. The area of the arboretum is 23 hectares and occupies meadows around the brook, adjacent forest slopes and a fish pond. There are 800 tree species registered there of which over 200 are willow species, hybrids and cultivars which represent one of rarities of this unique collection. The most valued tree species is Sciadopitys verticillata originating from Japan. The nature trail on Domestic tree species with information tablets provides enough data on each introduced species. The arboretum’s aesthetics is enhanced by more than 25 wooden scuptures created by students of the MZLU Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology during sculptural symposia.
The Krtiny Arboretum is open to public one day in the week – on Saturdays (10.00-16.00) during the whole vegetation period between the Days of Open Doors at the end of May and at the beginning of October. Collective excursions are welcome throughout the year after a prior agreement (Tel. 516 428 811, E-mail: slp@slpkrtiny.cz). The basic tour takes about an hour.
Entrance fee per person is 20.00 CZK, collective entrance fee for organized excursions above 20 persons is 500.00 CZK including a guide. School children, students and pensioners are provided a 50% reduction, children up to 10 years free of charge.

Nejstarší a nejvetší zarízení tohoto druhu na ŠLP Krtiny je Arboretum Krtiny, nacházející se u silnice mezi mestysi Krtiny a Jedovnice, asi 20 km severne od jihomoravské metropole Brna. Založeno bylo v roce 1928 profesorem tehdejší Lesnické fakulty Vysoké školy zemedelské v Brne Augustem Bayerem. Rozloha arboreta je 23 ha, zabírá louky kolem potoka, prilehlé cásti lesních svahu a soucástí je i rybník. Evidováno je zde na 1.000 taxonu drevin, z toho je pres 200 druhu, krížencu a kultivaru vrb, což je jedna z rarit této unikátní sbírky. Nejvzácnejší drevinou, se kterou se studenti i návštevníci mohou seznámit je pajehlicník preslenitý (Sciadopitys verticillata), pocházející až z dalekého Japonska. Pro poucení je k dispozici naucná stezka Domácí dreviny, osazená informacními tabulkami o každé predstavované drevine. Estetika arboreta je vhodne doplnena více než 25 drevenými sochami a sousošími, které vytvorili studenti Lesnické a drevarské fakulty Mendelovy univerzity v Brne pri porádaných socharských sympóziích. Zajímavostí je nove zbudované rašelinište a vresovište, také venkovní výukový amfiteátr a navazující rekreacne-výchovná stezka Chvála stromu, venovaná jednotlivým druhum drevin.
Arboretum Krtiny je v prubehu roku zprístupneno verejnosti vždy jeden den v týdnu – v sobotu, a to po celé vegetacní období mezi Dny otevrených dverí, které jsou porádány na konci mesíce kvetna a na zacátku mesíce ríjna. K výuce posluchacu slouží celorocne.
Hromadným exkurzím je umožnen vstup po celý rok na základe predchozí domluvy (tel. 516 428 811, e-mail: slp@slpkrtiny.cz).
Základní prohlídkový okruh trvá približne 1 hodinu.
Vstupné pro dospelé ciní 30 Kc, pro deti 10 Kc, pro skupiny je hromadné vstupné 500 Kc. Dále nabízíme svatební obrady (1.000,-Kc) a focení svatby v interiéru arboreta (500,- Kc). Otevírací doba – 2010:
Den otevrených dverí – ve dnech 22. – 23. 5. 2010 od 9.00 do 17.00 hodin,
Den otevrených dverí – ve dnech 2. 10. – 3. 10. 2010 od 9.00 do 17.00 hodin,
Otevírací doba bude mezi dny otevrených dverí vždy v sobotu od 10.00 do 17.00 hodin.
