The original building was a hunting lodge for the Johnstone family. Bought in 1965 to found a centre for people to find out about Buddhism and meditation. Tibetan monks were invited to start the teachings and there have been monks ever since.
The centre provides courses on Buddhism and meditation to promote well being amongst Western peoples. Many visitors come for the peace of the grounds and many statues and brightly coloured stupa.
