Located on South 3rd East Street, adjacent to City Hall, the Mountain Home Historical Museum is housed in a historic Carnegie Library. Built in 1908, it is listed on the National Register of Historical Places. Among the artifacts are mining, agriculture, and railroad. The museum also focuses on the cultural heritage of the community including Basque, Chinese, and Native American. Among the publications is a Self-guided Walking Tour of Historic Downtown Mountain Home, an enjoyable excursion experiencing the rich legacy of the early settlers.
