The first written mention comes from 1186, when it is recalled in the possession of the Cistercian monastery in Svetle (Zwettl). This reference (predium ... cui nomen est Lazise, which is a court, whose name is Lazice) suggests that in ancient times was the seat of naming different from today. But already in 1221 for the same site documented the current name (predium ... quod vulgariter apellatur Sahar, who has a speech inviting the general Zar). At the mention of the Zarsky pond and one of the oldest still existing czech ponds. Regarding the origin of the name does not exist a common understanding - perhaps either a german imitation of the czech word Zdar or derived from the german word Saher, with the meaning sedges, reeds.
