The memorial inscription reads:
'World War II 1939-1945
This stone is to commemorate
all those allied service men and women
who served here in Dorchester
and in the county of Dorsetshire
and to all those who fought
all over the world,
on land, sea and in the air.
Never to forget those who gave
their today for our tomorrow.
We will remember them.
5th June 1999'
The memorial is a simple stone set in a small gravel base and in the grassed border outside the main entrance to the museum.
