Everyone told us to take a ride up one of the Incline Railways when we visited Pittsburgh. We did just that during a visit there one evening and so enjoyed the night view of Downtown from the top of the hill.

We took a ride up the Monongahela Incline Railway when we last visited Pittsburgh. It was a beautiful late summer evening and the view of the city was breath-taking that night.
There are two Incline Railways along the south side of Pittsburgh that take riders from the lower stations on East Carson Street to the Mt. Washington neighborhood at the top. The Monongahela and Duquesne Inclines run until after midnight and charge a small fee for passage.
At the top, along Grandview Avenue, are several overlook platforms and points to enjoy the sights. The railways operate until 12:45 a.m. (12 midnight on Sundays and holidays).
Parking below can be found at Station Square along Carson Street. Coords for one parking facility have been posted.
