This piece catches your eye as soon as you enter the Park. Depending on the translation Vatnsberinn can mean 'The Water Carrier' or 'Aquarius'.
This piece is quite large and should be viewed from a number of angles to fully appreciate it. Unfortunately the position of the sun made photographing it difficult.
The artist was Asmundur Sveinsson (1893 - 1982) was born in Iceland and trained both there and overseas. His themes were often men and women at work. Later in his career his work became more abstract. Like many Icelandic artists Ásmundur drew upon the traditions of his native country when seeking subjects to inspire him.
