PUCK was commissioned by the former Postmaster General of the U.S., Winton Blount, who selected this mischievous character from A Midsummer Night's Dream to grace the Carolyn Blount Theatre in Montgomery, AL. The impish smile, the wiggly toes and just the slightest protrusion of a horn above the right forehead, are a few of the magnificent examples of how well MacQueen succeeded in bringing to life this character from Shakespeare. The model was Yvan Michaud who was dancing Oscar Ariaz's ballet PUCK.
Elizabeth MacQueen was born in Birmingham, AL, and educated at UCLA's Dickson Art Center. She is a member of the National Sculpture Society, NYC, and a core founder of the Western Academy of Women Artists. She has studied and traveled extensively, speaking three languages. She continues to maintain international ties by interviewing in French for "Les Saisons de la Danse" in their Paris office and exhibiting at the Palazzo Mediceo, Seravezza, Italy.
