Part of the non-profit
Growing Places Indy organization, the 6,000 sqft Slow Food Garden is their first project. It is located at
White River State Park , which is busy pedestrian mall in downtown Indianapolis with art museums, green spaces, and baseball park.
The objective is to demonstrate urban growing techniques to encourage community gardens. Quick glance of the rows saw several varieties of potatoes, cabbage, onions, and herbs. These are sold at a local farmers market and to downtown restaurants. Five interns work the garden, pick the crops, and make the deliveries.
