Statue in great condition, and was very easy to locate and a great place to visit. Statue was donated to St. Martinville by actress Delores Del Rio after she filmed a movie in the area. She was also the model for the sculpture. The entire St. Martinville area is full of fact and legend about "Evangeline". It is a fictious poem, however it has been adopted by the Cajun culture. Many deported Acadians arrived in the St. Martinville area after the 1765 exile from Canada. It is a great place to visit, also featuring the Acadian Museum just a short walk away.
