In Christian beliefs, Madonna represents Mary, the Mother of Jesus. She is often depicted with an infant child or sitting alone in a position of humility. What is interesting about this piece of art is that Madonna is walking alone and has been placed as if she is leaving the Cathedral.

'Walking Madonna' was cast in bronze with a dark brown patina, in 1981 by Dame Elisabeth Frink. The statue stands at 205 cm in height.
