On Main Street near Pennsylvania is a small area named Centennial Park. This area is just south of the Santa Fe Depot Museum. Several monuments to local history stand here.
This brick monument stands about 5 ft. tall and has a plaque on each of its four sides. One plaque identifies it as the Centennial Monument 1907-2007 honoring the State of Oklahoma and Pottawatomie County Centennial Organizations. A second plaque commemorates the First Residents of Pottawatomie County. A third side honors Centennial Organizations of Shawnee, and the fourth side idenitifies the Centennial organizations in the towns of Tecumseh, Dale, McLoud, Maud, Asher, Brooksville and Bethel.
The monument was sponsored by the Oklahoma Centennial Commission and Brad Henry, Governor.
