The marker and grave of Big Al, located on the grounds (though still publicly accessible) of the Lone Star Steel Company at Lone Star, Texas. The marker commemorates the place Big Al had in the hearts of the steelworkers and security guards at Lone Star Steel, who watched over him in the waters south and west of the mill area for 25 years. When Big Al died in 1976, he was estimated to be 75-100 years old. He became a symbol for the ability of industry and nature to coexist.
