This M60A3 Main Battle Tank is on public display at the Freedom Memorial Park in
Hallstead, Pennsylvania along New York Avenue. The Hallstead–Great Bend American Legion Post 537 dedicated its Freedom Memorial Park, a tribute to veterans of all wars, on September 11, 2004.
The
M60A3 Main Battle Tank was developed by Chrysler from the M48 series. The production of M60 tanks started in the late 1959 at the Detroit Tank Arsenal and ended in 1987. The first tanks were completed in 1960 and went 1961 in service. The last service under the U.S. flag was in the operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm in Kuwait. It is still used by the U.S. Reserve and National Guard Units.
I couldn't find any plaque near the tank that gives better information. If you know a littel bit more about this tank please provide it in your log.
Many thanks and happy waymarking.
