When the then owner of the dissolved Priory of Catesby decided in 1863 that he no longer wanted to be overlooked by his neighbour on top of the hill at Upper Catesby he moved his house stone by stone and rebuilt it facing west just below the top of the ridge at Upper Catesby. Needing a home for his horses and carriages he built a court of buildings at Lower Catesby not far from the site of the old Priory, consisting of a carriage house, stables and groom's quarters.
This clock is positioned in the central tower of the groom's building, the central one of the three main buildings in the courtyard. To the south is the coach house and to the north is the stable block.
