The boundary stone showing WD6, refers to the war department and is one of 46 similar stones used to mark out the Willsworthy firing range. They date from when the army purchased its first tract of land, virtually following the line of the old Willsworthy Manor in about 1900.
The land is now owned by the Ministry of Defence.
