It has been reported in September 2019 that this armory is now the home of Garfield Elementary School,
The Enid Armory, located at 600 E. Elm Avenue is a two-story red brick building, constructed as a WPA project in 1936. At the time, it was the third largest armory in Oklahoma. It is the only armory built using red brick. Soldiers for World War II and Korea were trained here. It was placed on the Register of Historic Places in 1988 (#88001370).
In 2005, the Base Realignment & Closure Commission (BRAC) listed the Enid armory as one of the 58 armories scheduled to be closed over the next five years. Once the new Armed Forces Reserve Center is completed at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, scheduled to be completed in the Fall of 2010, this armory will no longer be used as such.
The armory building is to be considered as a possible site for Garfield Elementary School.
