Tibbetts Point Lighthouse

Built 1827 Rebuilt 1854
Capt. John Tibbetts of Troy, New York gave 3 acres of his land to the Federal Government to establish a lighthouse. In 1827 the first tower and keeper's quarters were built. In 1854 the first tower was replaced by the present circular one. This also marked the installation of the Fresnel Lens -- which is still in operation today.
