This marker was designed, funded and purchased by a private individual who believes that this place is important enough to be remembered an preserved for future generations.
The marker celebrates the location of where the Providence Presbyterian Church and School once stood.
The Church was in existance from 1854 until 1918, while the School was in use from 1856 through 1946.
The Historical Marker has a roof structure built over it to somewhat protect it from the weather. Next to the marker is an original water pump used by the school in the late 1800's, along with a benchmark and a witness post.
The area is maintained by the donor and his family. Otherwise it would be overgrown with weeds and scrub brush.
