Long the home to poor people, and so I am told, a garbage dumb, 'Diamond Island', is now being redeveloped as a pristine new suburb, for Cambodia's emerging wealthy and the better class of expat. Diamond island lies directly opposite the better parts of the modern city of Phnom Penh: Parliament house, Nagaworld casino, Hun Sen Park (named after the democratically elected Prime Minister), etc.
LInking Diamond island the short distance to the mainland, across the Mekong River, are two, golden bridges. This particular bridge follows what I believe is a standard design, two arches at either end of the bridge, with cables supporting the span. The bridge is brand new, no signs of wear. It is also well designed and laid out. There was a guard on the mainland side, in a security box, but I was allowed to photograph and walk on the bridge (there is a pedestrian walkway) without restriction.
The waymark was made at the eastern (mainland) side entrance to the bridge.
