This building was designed by James Riely Gordon and built in 1894 for August Frederick Staacke (and his brother, apparently) to be used for their carriage company. Built into the granite embellishments of this classical and renaissance revival style facade are the 1894 date and at the top, the "Staacke Bro's" name. There is a Texas Historical Marker (WM38P2) at the left of the building when facing the building. This building is also waymarked as a U. S. National Register of Historic Places entry (WM38P6).
