Lake Taupo lakefront reserve has a new wind sculpture. The seven-metre-tall wind-activated art piece is called Flip, by Christchurch sculptor Phil Price.

Taupo ratepayers have paid $50,000 for a wind sculpture. The wind-activated art piece, called Flip, by Christchurch sculptor Phil Price, was unveiled this week on the lakefront.
It is made up of four carbon fibre red panels that rotate in the wind.
Taupo Mayor Rick Cooper said the sculpture will add interest to Taupo's lakefront.
Taupo ratepayers will take ownership of the sculpture after a volunteer group, Taupo Sculpture Trust, raised $50,000 and the council agreed to match dollar for dollar to buy the sculpture from the trust.
