In 1755 the French "Acadians" were exiled from Nova Scotia by the British. Shiploads of them sailed into New Orleans and spread out to the west, setteling in south Louisiana. These people were the first "Cajuns".
The Memorial features this flame, Family Crests, a "wall of Names" and a mural of the early settlers coming to the "New Acadia".
