"Argent three connected Castle Towers breaking from the base Gules and a Lion Gules issuant from the middle tower." (Flags of the World)

The towers are the three fortresses on Wartenberg, East of Muttenz. They were destroyed in the earthquake of 1356, but the ruins can still be visited. The lion is from the coat of arms of Katharina von Löwenberg, the wive of Konrad VIII Münch von Münchenstein, authority of Muttenz in the 14th century.
