The plaque states...
"This area was once a sandbar across the mouth of the Leschenault estuary. Evidence of 3 wrecks lies nearby.
PERSEVERANCE. A small wooden vessel believed to be a cutter which was wrecked in a gale on the 28th February 1845.
The "Antelope" went down at anchor in the same storm with the loss of one life but was later refloated.
CITIZEN OF LONDON. A small 17 metres long wooden schooner damaged on the jetty then beached on the 20th August 1880. It was later repaired and refloated.
STAR OF THE SOUTH. A cutter which went ashore at the mouth of the estuary with a load of guano from sharks Bay on 26th June 1888.

A Bunbury Joint Heritage Group plaque complied with assistance from the W.A. Maritime Museum and the South West Development Authority."
