Mayor's Proclamation
WHEREAS, this year of 1977 is the fiftieth year of Berlin Borough's incorporation as a borough, and WHEREAS, following its incorporation on May 16, 1927, there was an election of leading citizens to operate a borough government, and WHEREAS, it is fitting that we should honor the memory of that first Borough Council of fifty years ago, comprised of Dr. Frank O. Stem, Mayor; Lewis P. Orchard, Sr., President of Council; and Councilmen David Lee, Williams Snyder, Ruben Levick, Robert Jaggard, and Aldolph Ellwanger. THEREFORE, I, S. Samuel Lichtman, Mayor of the Borough of Berlin, Camden County, New Jersey, so proclaim May 16, 1977 as Berlin Borough Day and do urgently appeal to the people of Berlin Borough to display the American Flag at their homes and places of business on this day, and that our clergymen make proper reference to this Anniversary in their worship services on Sunday, May 15, 1977, and that our borough school in some manner do recognize this Anniversary.
