The Fresno Federal Courthouse - Post Office was constructed in 1939. The courthouse was in use until the 1970 when a new courthouse was built it was replaced by the Central Offices of the Fresno Unified School District. The Post Office is still in use. For years the building was painted pink and known as the "Pink Palace." The building was designed in the Moderne Style, with classical elements.
The building also features art commissioned by the WPA as well -
Two Post Office Sculptures, "American eagles" hover over the Tulare Street entrances. The others are located inside the building. A
bas relief "Justice" represents the judiciary role of the building.
A Mural "Grape Harvest" and two bas reliefs "RFD 1" and "RFD 2", represent the bountiful harvests of the Central San Joaquin Valley.
