Smokey is best seen by those traveling northeast on Minnesota Highway 61. He stands near the highway in front of the visitor information center and Chamber of Commerce.
Smokey's colors are still vivid, and the board is not warped, but there are bubbles in the plastic along the edges.
No forest is named, but this Smokey Bear stands near a state DNR office and the Superior Hiking Trail. It is near Cloquet Valley State Forest. Two state parks are within 20 miles going northeast.
