A classic polished black granite V-shaped monument lists the names of those Evansvillians whose fate it was to participate in active duty in the Vietnam War. The Vietnam War officially lasted from 1959 through 1975, but to many vets of that era,it raged in their psyche for decades longer. This beautiful memorial to the Vietnam veterans and heros from Evansville is located along the Riverfront Esplanade where Chestnut Street meets SW Riverside Drive in downtown Evansville, IN. The Ohio River is to the west and downtown Evansville it to the east. This war memorial is north of the Evansville Museum of Art, History and Science at 411 SE Riverside Drive, Evansville, IN. and south of the Four Freedoms Monument. No indication of who the donor of this monument is nor what date the monument was place are indicated on or around the monument.
