On May 2, 1863, during the battle at Chancellorsville Confederate General Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson was wounded by his own men. Jackson was hit by three bullets, two in the left arm and one in the right hand. A few hours later General Jackson’s left arm was amputated by Dr. Hunter McGuire. The next day General Jackson was moved sever miles southeast to the Chandler Plantation at Guinea Station. Jackson was place in the plantation office building where doctors and staff continued to treat his wounds. So concerned about his wounds those tending to the General failed to notice that he was also showing symptoms of pneumonia.
