The cemetary contains the gravesites of six members of the Group of Seven, a group of Canadian landscape painters in the 1920s, originally consisting of Franklin Carmichael, Lawren Harris, A. Y. Jackson, Frank Johnston, Arthur Lismer, J. E. H. MacDonald, and Frederick Varley. Tom Thomson (who died in 1917) and Emily Carr were also closely associated with the Group of Seven, though neither were ever official members. The Group of Seven is most famous for its paintings of the Canadian landscape. It was succeeded by the Canadian Group of Painters in the 1930s.
The graves of 5 original members are found here: Lawren Harris, A. Y. Jackson, Frank Johnston, Arthur Lismer and Fred Varley. A. J. Casson, a non-original member of the group (he replaced Frank Johnston) is also interred here.
2 othere graves are also on site. Robert McMichael and his wife Signe McMichael co-founders of the McMichael Art Collection are buried here as well.
The cemetery is located on the grounds of the McMichael Canadian Art Collection.
Parking is available either on the McMichael grounds (cost is $5), or optional parking is in Binder Twine Park on Stegman's Mill Road (free).
