The plaque reads: "The first project of Fort Langley Community Improvement Soceity after its foundation in 1924 was the replacement of the old town hall with a new large building. The following year the old hall and grounds were bought from the miniciplaity for 137.13, the amount of tax bill still owing. The dirctors hired architect Archibald Campbell Hope (brother of Charles Edward Hope) to design a new community hall. Construction commenced in 1930, and an Innaural Ball was held on March 6, 1931. The same year, the trees along the south line of the property were planted by the Society's women, while those along the north line were planted by its men. The building remains in the ownership of the Society, and is a testament to their long range vision and community spirit.
