Zippy sat in the lobby of the NC State Library in some unusual shaped chairs around a spiral center table. In the comic strip there are four bubbly chairs around a spiral table. Today, the arrangement is six chairs arranged in two groups of three, with one set of three around the spiral table.

In the strip the chairs appear plain and undecorated. Today, there are two chair designs, a solid red and another with red and yellow stripes.
