Remarks: The sculpture was installed in recognition of the state's main agribusiness, the poultry industry. Gainesville is known as the cradle city of Georgia's poultry industry. The sculpture and park where it is sited cost approximately $35,000. The project was financed by the Georgia Poultry Federation, a network of poultry and poultry-related firms and individuals. IAS files contain a Georgia Poultry Federation brochure; and articles from The Times (Gainesville, GA), Jan. 30, 1978 and Feb. 17, 1978.
