St. Paul Episcopal Church, Wickford - North Kingstown, RI - Stained Glass Windows on Waymarking.com

In the Wickford section of North Kingstown, there is St. Paul Episcopal Church on Main Street. If you have a chance to get inside, perhaps on a weekend day in the summer when the door is open (as we had found it), you will find several stained glass windows throughout the church.

As you enter the lobby, there are two stained glass windows. These appear to be more modern than the ones that are in the auditorium. One window shows a natural scene with animals. Another shows a schooner type boat and a small prayer for those lost at sea. When you enter the auditorium the tall, more traditional windows are in view. At the end, behind the alter is a figure that is presumed to be Saint Paul. On either side are various designs that include winged animals and an angel. The windows on the side include both biblical and church scenes. One shows Christ Jesus healing Mary Magdalene. Another shows a woman at an organ.

Unfortunately, the web site for the church does not have a description of the windows, and more search on the Internet did not turn up any more information about the designer, when they were installed, etc.

The church is right on Main Street. There were no posted hours, but the door was open, and a person inside who was meditating earlier had invited us to come in and take a look. I'm glad we accepted the invitation!
