The namesake of Post Office Square, this imposing building stands over the plaza with a stately demeanor. While the building takes up an entire city block, the plaque in question is at the southeast corner of the building, at the northwest corner of Congress and Milk Streets.

The marker reads: "The 1933 Federal Building was built during the height of the Depression as the Boston home of the Federal Courts and the U. S. Post Office and was the site of precedent-setting judicial decisions on New Deal legislation and civil rights. The granite and limestone tower, incorporating elements of both Art Deco and Stripped Classical styles, was designed by the nationally known Boston firm of Cram and Ferguson in collaboration with the U. S. Treasury. In 1972 it was renamed the John W. McCormack Post Office and Court House for the former Speaker of the House from Boston."

When logging a Massachusetts Historic Marker, we ask that you not only describe your visit, but to upload a picture from it. But a photo of you standing next to the marker or a photograph the subject of the marker - those are examples of possible photographs to upload.
