The Springer post office is located at 16625 U.S. Highway 77 in this town of 610. Of all the post offices I have seen, and I've seen many, Springer stands out as the cutest of them all. With a curved blue awning, cottage windows and even a houseplant in the window, you just want to move in.
Hours: M-F 8:00-12:00, 1:00-4:15
A post office was established here on September 1, 1890. The town was named for W. A. Springer, pioneer cattle rancher.
The first store in Springer was located east of town along Buzzard Creek. On September 16, 1910, Springer almost burned to the ground. A fire started in the post office and before the flames could be put out, many businesses were destroyed, including the post office, a general store, a blacksmith shop, and a fraternal meeting hall. When the people and firefighters saw they were losing the battle, they used dynamite to stop the fire.
In the beginning, Springer was a farming community, and like other rural towns, its population declined over the years. The town had a population of 679 in 1980. It currently stands at 610.

To post a log to an existing U.S. Post Office waymark, you will need to post a picture of the front of the building, with the name of the post office in the background if that is possible. Including your gps device in the picture is not neccesary, but wouldn't be cause for disapproval, as long as all other details of your log are acceptable. If your Post Office has any unusual or unique features that you feel others would enjoy viewing, additional pictures are always welcome.
