Located at 250 Franklin St (on the corner of Franklin St and Pearl St) in Post Office Square, this grand building was once home to the Federal Reserve Bank branch in Boston. Today, however, it is home to the Langham Hotel, one of the most luxurious in the United States.
The marker reads: "A prime example of adaptive reuse, a luxury hotel now occupies this former Federal Reserve Bank building. The 1981 renovation was designed by Jung, Brannen Associates.
The original building was designed by the Boston architect R. Clipton Sturgis (1860-1950) in the Renaissance Revival style, which evoked the stability required of a Federal banking facility. The reuse also allows the public to readily see the domed ceiling, N.C. Wyeth murals and other significant interior furnishings."

Visit Instructions:
When logging a Massachusetts Historic Marker, we ask that you not only describe your visit, but to upload a picture from it. The picture does not have to be of the marker - one picture of the marker is enough. But a photo of you standing next to the marker or a photograph the subject of the marker - those are examples of possible photographs to upload.
